CarpetFor decades people in the Greater Toronto Area have chosen carpet as their number one floor covering solution. Carpet provides a softer and more comforting appeal in homes today, although not the most popular, it still remains one of the top choices. There are many different types of fibers such as nylon, polyester, polypropylene all of which are materials used to make up what we call carpet.
Carpets can be constructed in many different ways using a variety of materials; such materials may consist of a natural product such as wool, cotton, jute, silk, even bamboo fiber. Less costly carpets are made from synthetic materials such as, nylon, polyester, polypropylene and olefin. Generally speaking, a majority of carpets are made from a looped pile or cut pile construction. Cut pile commercial is where the carpet is looped then the tops of the loops are sheared off. Cut pile commercial is mostly used in commercial applications because of its excellent strength and durability. While most prefer natural products, a synthetic material is quite comparable. You may recognize some of these names within the selection of carpets, sisal, commercial, berber, patterned and printed. All of which could be a great choice for your home.

While shopping for your carpet you may notice that it's sometimes noted 20oz – 60oz. This determines the weight of the fibre in a square yard, basically the higher the number the more fibre induced into the carpet. The higher the density per square yard, the better the carpet. When purchasing a carpet keep in mind that the continuous fibre carpet is not comparible to a carpet which is not continuous. For example a 30 oz determined weight (nylon, continuous filiment) is comparable to a 45oz determined weight which is not continuous.
